I can not make it to the run this weekend. Just found out I have a surprise family visit plus I have to help open SDRI.
I need any of you Oriflamme and Ultra-vets to please make sure and help any of our newcomers that show up for the run.
NEWCOMERS........please pay attention and listen to the Vets. Oriflamme Canyon is a significant descent and you also have to climb back out. About 500 feet every mile. During the race it is a "death march".
Make sure to be prepared. Have plenty of Hydration and Nutrition.
They are calling for around 40 degrees at the start of the run and may warm up to around 60 on your way out. Here is the link for the weather.
If your a vet and know the canyon please make sure that the newcomers know where to go. The two points you could make a wrong turn at are when you cross Sunrise Highway and grab the PCT on the other side going North and when you get to the Mason Valley Truck Trail. If you go the wrong way you can end up at Pedro Fages back on Sunrise.
Carl Tedesco will be there and knows the course well. Listen to what he says and you won't go wrong.
Wish I could be there....the foot is actually getting better and I can run 3-5 now!
