This Party will begin at 1:00 PM and I highly recommend you arrive at or before that time since Marina Del Rey and the surrounding area (Playa Del Mar, Venice and especially Santa Monica) SHUT DOWN their roads as the lots fill up in the area or at the latest by a schedule which you can find here.The Fireworks start at 9:00 PM
You can however show up anytime by bicycle and there are many options on parking some distance and riding in on bicycle.Who's Coming:
We have 400 people RSVP'd thru 4 groups as far as I understand it, and our members have sold the hotel out! We figure we can handle about 500 guests in the space we have and with that said and the expected flake factor, if you are not RSVP'd and would like to join us, please feel free to come early and party with us. We will NOT be checking off an RSVP list.
Instead we will give out wristbands to all of our members who attend for drink discounts.
Parking: My recommendation: Car Pool (Post comment on the bottom of the event description to plan car-pool)
The hotel has offered us the use of their parking lot FOR FREE until full, just tell the attendant that you are with the Drinking with Strangers Party and they will allow you to self park.
If the main lot is full, there will be two additional lots on Bali Way and probably charging $5.00 - $8.00 to park for the day, and if they are full, the medical buildings and business buildings on Admiralty Way also offer parking, all within a 10 minute walk of the hotel.
** Very important for the people (and I know there are a lot of you) who are staying at the Hotel, get there early! We have negotiated with the hotel to fill their lots regardless of their reserved guests since most of the hotel will be filled with DWS/DBA and NFS members ***Theme:
It's Independence Day - Wear your Red, White and Blues! Wear Summer Comfortable Clothing, NOT your Tux. What to bring:
Light clothing for the day, a sweater or jacket for the evening chill, bathing suit if you plan on swimming, Cards or Board Games, your dancing shoes, great attitude, identification and money (cash/credit cards for drinks and food). Drinks/Food:
The management has simplified the Drink prices for all 3 bars to $6.00 flat for all well drinks including beer, mixers, margarita's, etc. for our members, BUT without your wristband you will be charged $8.00. Premium liquors carry an additional charge. There will be three bars this year, 2 inside 1 outside, the outside bar will be the one for the blended drinks. As of last week, the man inside bar was the only one of three which accepted credit card bar tabs, but the hotel was working on getting satellite credit card machines for point of sale machines before this Friday for the other 2 bars.
They will also have food available at the hotel and a barbeque of sorts with items between $2.00 and $7.00 with most sides at $2. and Entree's at $7. Pre-Party:
If you are an early bird, feel free to park at the hotel at 10:30AM and walk over to El Torito for Lunch. The GM has offered us a good deal and we expect to be walking back to arrive at the hotel by 1:30PM Where do we meet:
We will start out in the Waterfront Room. We'll all be wearing wristbands and are nearly taking over the entire hotel for ourselves. Rolando will be spinning tunes in the Waterfront room, the hotel band is on the North side and we are working on getting a set up for music by the pool. I have 500 wristbands that have an American Flag then others there-after, you won't miss us, just walk up to anyone and say "Hi, I am here for the party and they will lead you in the right direction for one of the hosts or our assistants. Disclosure - Please be responsible and DON'T Drink and Drive.
This is a 21 and over event, no-one under 21 will be allowed in the Waterfront Room or the Bar Area. All other areas are considered general public, which will be mostly overwhelmed by our group. Please also be respectful of the establishment and their staff
