Separation and Divorce Recovery Group Weekly Meetup

  • Nov 4, 2013 · 7:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The purpose of this group is to establish a safe place where people can deal with the pain and isolation brought about by the ending of a significant relationship. We are not a singles group or a dating network. Instead, we are a family where it is safe to be ourselves. The goal of the meeting is to help members to develop into healthier, more complete, independent, loving men and women. We hope that by being together, listening to each other, and by sharing our experiences, strength and hope, we will learn to see the value of life in a new context. For the first hour of each meeting members share their experiences. The second half of the meeting is reserved for a guest speaker relating to either the legal or emotional aspects of separation/divorce. We meet every Monday eveing at the Church in the Highlands, 35 Bryant Ave. White Plains, New York. We are a mixed group of men and women. There are about 50 members, with approximately 20 attendees per meeting. There are no fees, new members are welcome, no reservation is necessary. We pass a basket at each meeting and suggest a five dollar donation per meeting to cover the cost of the meeting place and coffee/cookies served at the meeting.

I don't think there is a meeting tonight but would attend if there is one.

For anyone that was interested in my revised version of the Serenity Prayer, here it is. This alteration, for me, was perhaps a way to address the third step, my way of letting go and "turning my will and my life over to my higher power" by accepting the gifts that I had been praying so hard for. Then, amazingly, when saying the prayer in this way - I found those gifts were suddenly available to me. I simply repeat it two or three times and feel a massive shift in my attitude, erasing sadness and anxiety about the changes and challenges I am facing. This was and continues to be nothing short of a miracle for me.

The entrance is on Grandview Ave between Bryant and Stratford, a block away from the Church in the Highlands plaque.

I have attempted to send this message 3 times and have not gotten a response. I will not go down again unless I get clarity as to where you are- I attempted to 2 weeks ago -drove a half hour to get there- and couldn't find you. I walked around in the dark and attempted every entrance. Please advise!
