Docker tutorial session

Bring your laptops for a hands-on evening with docker, the open-source deployment engine that's changing the game in configuration management and virtualization.

Andrew Baker will give a brief introduction to docker and discuss his experience using it in his recent open-source project, spin-docker. We will then work through some tutorials to help you learn how to use docker and how to dockerize your own apps.

There will be two sets of tutorial content available:

• An intro track for people new to docker. Andrew will also be on hand to help you learn the docker basics.

• An advanced track, which will cover a few complex applications of docker and highlight interesting open source docker projects. It will also include a few discussion starters for people already using docker to share their experiences.

Setup instructions will be posted here a few days before the meet up so you can be ready to hit the ground running on 4/29. There will also be some docker swag up for grabs!

    Hi all,

I have built in some time for environment setup in my schedule for tonight, but if you want to get ahead you can follow the instructions in this section:

I will also have some cloud servers running for those who would rather avoid setting up their development environments entirely.

    See you all tonight!

Hey all, if you're like me and go to a significant number of tech meetups you're probably sick of pizza. So this Django District will be catered by Pho Cyclo Vietnamese Restaurant.

I was wondering if the setup instructions are available yet?

Hi David! I'm finalizing the tutorial materials tonight. I plan on using Ansible (with Vagrant) to make setup easy.

I will also provide some already-provisioned cloud servers for people to use if they don't want the hassle of setting things up locally.

I will comment here when the materials are finalized! Thanks!

I've also been talking to the good folks at Tutum (, a new docker hosting service, and they're offering an extra $15 of credit for folks who attend!
