Django on the job - Celery

Celery is an asynchronous message queue and when used in conjunction with a Django application helps to improve performance.

Peter Karp will give an introduction to using celery tasks in a Django web application.

We have a presentation about the use Celery at BuzzFeed.

Jeff Revesz, Director of Ads Technology at BuzzFeed, will discuss how BuzzFeed uses Celery in conjunction with RabbitMQ, celerybeat, celerycam and flower to schedule, execute and monitor periodic tasks.

Andrew Mirsky will give a lightning talk comparing different celery brokers (redis, rabbitmq, ironmq) , how they are different and when to use one or the other.

If we still have time available consider giving a lightning talk on a technical topic of your choice. Keep it under 5 minutes, please.

We are also looking for speakers or topics for our monthly meet ups. Please get in touch.
