We had 6 people show up (about what I expected). The DM (heppo12) played the game the way it's meant to be played in my book. Fast and loose. Emphasis on game and not on Game. The players like myself were all people I'd invite to my home again.

I'd like to give Steve Ransom a shoutout for getting the group rolling, and Michael for being a great DM. This unit is signing off.

I have a wireless network, we should be fine on that. Also, I have a desktop and a laptop and I wont be using either after character generation.

      February 23

    • Bleys Jackson

If i can use either that would be awesome.

Hey everyone. I've been on the lookout for a 3.5 game that's somewhat close to Seattle proper. Curious if there's room left for one more? :-)

Excluding DM: Myself, Rich Green, Bleys Jackson, Steve Ransom, Jacob, and Eric makes six. I imagine that 7 is pushing the limit on a day to day but there's also the chance that someone wont make it, if not the first day, then on the followup sessions. It will happen and Barring Heppo's final decision, we would be glad to have you.

So that's a yes, but send an email to [masked] so we can get you in the mailing list.

    Character list:
    1 cleric
1 psion (clarification: psi is a form of magic)

Reading through thread - I hope I got everything

    a) let's start Sunday 11:00 AM; first 2h are reserved for char creation/modification and Pizza;
    b) don't worry about stats; if we do social roulette I'm sure everyone will be happy; if we do point buy everyone will be happy as well - in either case you can create a character and can be sure to have attributes that fit
    c) 7 players is absolute limit, and requires everyone is quick with their decisions during action sequences; but we can do it
    d) if you want special details on char shoot me a PM and I reply via e-mail; I'm used to bending rules as long as the outcome is within the groups power level (don't think superman, think junior X-man or Avenger-kids; everyone with their own strengths and weaknesses, and together and unstoppable force)
    e) don't worry or waste time thinking about equipment; if there are things you think your character will need because the char is build around it, again - shoot me a PM

Sounds great michael. I would be interested in meeting somewhere on Sunday so we all can see how well the system you described works. Do you have extra character sheets? You mentioned once that you wouldn't mind having it at your house, if so what is the street address? If you want to meet somewhere else, what is the street address of where you want to meet?

    February 20

    • Michael P Metully

For the sake of clarity, call me metully or tully. The DM is also a Michael.

I have a duplexing printer, and thus character sheets are trivialized, b&w only though.

I posted the address when you asked earlier as a google maps link. It's up on delridge way and andover just off the west seattle bridge.

I was perusing a pathfinder group and saw you mention that you are wheelchair bound.

There is no way to get into my house without going up stairs. I can offer to carry you and your wheelchair (I can carry 300 lbs up our stairs without struggling).

  • Steven Ransom

Jacob and Rob, are you interested in playing? If you are, can u email me at [masked]. I can then start email chains instead of public forums.

I'll be hitting the field as a Psion. First time for me too. Hoping this will be a good learning experience.

Food and Drinks: I am thinking I'll get some papa murphy's pizza, or my fiancee's mother was talking about cooking some food. So. If everyone pitches in $5 and mentions any allergies they might have NOW (fiancee is allergic to everything so we can accommodate most allergies except maybe gluten allergy), I can make sure we are fed and watered.

    32 is a bit excessive :)
let's start with 28 if you want to use point buy

for those not familiar with it:
    all values start at 8

raising from a value of 8-13 costs 1 point
raising from a value of 14/15 costs 2 points
raising from a value of 16/17 costs 3 points
raising from a value of 18/19 costs 4 points

    value - cost
    08 0
    09 1
    10 2
    11 3
    12 4
    13 5
    14 6
    15 8
    16 10
    17 13
    18 16
    19 20
    20 24

What time on Sunday? How does 11:00 AM sound to you?
    Michael

    February 21

    • Steven Ransom

The way I understood it, everyone starting with +1 and then exchanging bonus for bonus sounds good. Maybe a cap of +3 on any one stat.

      February 21

    • Michael P Metully

I like point buy and 28 points is 'above average' which is about 4d6 drop the lowest which is how I started DND. However, considering the nature of a bunch of strangers coming to my house, I would like to throw caution to the wind and have my character done using the social lottery system.

      February 21

  • Steven Ransom

Ok. Now that we have a game plan, email would be more effective. Please respond to [masked] and we can get this started.

Race restrictions ... depend on the setting. That's why I asked what you want. Warforged have their home in Eberron, Goldelven roam the realms, Worgen live only in WoW,..... and chaotic good dark elves carrying 2 scimitars have been relocated to the abyss :P

If you want to play a race with "effective" levels as long as it's only +1/2 - we can all either start at lvl 2 or 3, or you don't have a class , or .... any other balancing solution we all can agree upon

    I'm flexible :D

    February 20

  • heppo12

    a) I'm Michael
    b) I could start this week
    c) what setting would you prefer? If it's about 3.5 - how does Eberron sound to you?
    d) character creation ... now that is difficult ; the most fun ever I had with the following system: you describe your character to everyone, her strengths and weaknesses - and then everyone else assigns attributes of your character in secret to the DM, who has the last say

    I'm not a fan of random dice rolls during character creation - so if you don't like option ^, then how about: sum of all attribute bonus +5; if you have take a -3 you get +6; 3 traits at even, 3 at odd numbers;

    e) Warning: when playing with me CHA is NOT a dump stat
    f) I don't mind classes from other books, but if I don't own the rule book where the class is defined bring a copy

    did I miss anything?
    happy playing
    Michael

heppo12, also, could you be so kind as to post the rules for creating characters. It seems we have a lot of people that want to work outside the core books. Just thought that if you are dming now, it would be awesome to know if you have any preferences to character building. :)

  • heppo12

every 2 weeks should be fine unless work intervenes ^^

    February 20

  • heppo12

I'm living in Dupont - every week is too often for me :(

though I would be willing to DM :P

  • Steven Ransom

If I get to play, I want to play a human (possibly drow) Dread Necromancer.

    February 19

  • Bleys Jackson

    I'm going with soul bow.

    February 18

    • Bleys Jackson

On second thought, i'll wait until i've rolled to decide.

      February 19

  • Steven Ransom

I can dm, but not well until May. This week my work just dropped a new contract on me to keep me busy until then. I'm afraid that I'm not going to give the time needed to have a great story until then.

    February 19

  • Michael P Metully

I could be convinced to play a tanky character if I could jazz it up a little. I was thinking a large-raced monk (Ogre? Centaur? Minotaur?), but I don't want to pour much more time into that track till I have a DM to bounce questions off of.

Otherwise I would be wanting to play a rogue. Maybe something cliche like a half-ling or a doppelganger.

    February 19

  • Bleys Jackson

i suppose it would depend on who's dming, but are we using fractional bab and saves?

    February 19

  • Steven Ransom

Often is every week or so. Where are you located, Michael? Also, wondering if anyone is up to the challenge to DM?

    February 18

    • Michael P Metully

Two immediate turns off of the West Seattle bridge, near Delridge Way and Andover St.

      February 19

    • Michael P Metully

Oh and, were you planning to DM if finding another DM proves to be a challenge?

    February 19

  • Eric

Id like to play a rogue, or a ranger

    February 18

  • Steven Ransom

Currently there is a cleric and an elemental caster.

    February 18

  • Bleys Jackson

I'm no good at dming but does anyone else got an idea of what they'll want to play?

    February 18

  • heppo12

how often do you want to play?

    February 18

  • Eric

This sounds great, will we roll characters
Together or come prepared with prerolled?

    February 18

  • Jacob

So are we having this at Micheal's? I don't have any particular bias but I do need an address. I'll becoming straght from church.

    February 18

  • Michael P Metully

I could host till midnight if we need a location. Prime gaming space.

    February 18

  • Steven Ransom
