D&D Encounters - Murder in Balder's Gate @ The Game Keep

Baldur’s Gate, a city in the grip of evil and on the verge of civil war!

Murder in Baldur’s Gate is an adventure for character levels 1-3 set in one of the most popular cities in the Forgotten Realms®.

Players take on the role of heroes defending the city against an ancient evil long thought slain. The adventure is authored by fan-favorite writers and designers Ed Greenwood, Matt Sernett, and Steve Winter. We will be using 4th edition rules for this season.

This is the first adventure of the Sundering, shaping the future of the Realms!

The Sundering is a major story event impacting the Forgotten Realms and Murder in Baldur’s Gate puts players directly into the story. Fans of D&D can not only take part in the events of the Sundering by playing adventures, but the actions that they take can permanently change the course of history and help shape the Forgotten Realms in D&D Next.

Players will be asked to pay $5 at the beginning of the season to play the entire 9 weeks. This onetime $5 fee will pay for the DM Modules and prizes for the Encounters season.

The fun kicks off with the Launch Weekend Meetup Event and continues through the entire D&D Encounters season.

Greeting Everyone, I'm a long time player whom just join and would love to join an upcoming campaign. When I left Germany in 2004 I didn't think I would find another group so I sold all my books however I'll be picking up 4.0 series this weekend. I'll need a week or two to review any major changes but after that I would be available. With this group how in depth does the group go with character background development? I'm just wanting to make sure I don't geek out and show up with my usual novel of character background.

A more cynical person might even use the material to play the adventure in Pathfinder, which is pretty close to 3.5. I know I seriously considered it.

Well unfortunately when I left germany I donated all my stuff to the group I enjoyed 3.5 especially the dual classes arcane trickster was my favorite but normally I play a support character usually a sorcerer. I looked breifly into patherfinder and liked what I saw.

Not trying to "steal" players here but Roll The Dice has room for more if needed as an overflow. Were running 3 tables with 3.5, 4.0 & Next. However, seems 3.5 was a successful hit we may start a 4th table running 3.5. Also we are not charging the players but that also means no prizes since the DM's are covering the cost but we do have d20 dice left over from game day we will be passing out.

Is the fee one time only or per game?

The $5 is a onetime fee for the entire season! What a bargain for 9 weeks of D&D.

What does the $5 go towards?

Not too mention, how uncool would it be to be playing at a game store and not to be buying it from them. I'm not thrilled that anyone has to pay, but it is what it is.

The onetime $5 fee goes towards the modules, and prizes for the Encounters season.

Sorry guys, I'm out. don't want to play next until I have to. have already spend $$ on character builder and feel like I've wasted my money if I can't use it.

Rusty's running 4e at his table, which is why I'll be there; I'm not a Next fan either. If there are other reasons you don't want to play that's totally cool but I thought you should be making an informed decision. :)

      Both tables are 4th edition!

Also..is this the first day of the new Encounter?

    July 29, 2013

    • Rusty E.

Well, it depends on how you look at it. Yes, you can carry your character over from Game Day into encounters on Wednesday. But if you can't make it, you can just be there on Wednesday.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
