I know I would prefer to DM eventually, and not just to tell a story, but to make a world and see what story a bunch of players can make from it, but for now I'm content to be a player. Baby steps.
D&D 4th edition is what I'm currently familiar with, but I'm open to playing any game, so long as others are able to tolerate me going through the learning curve.
I'm not a huge fan of comics, nor do I read to any large degree, though most of my favorite films happen to be either horror films or psychological thrillers. I also draw a lot more inspiration from music just when trying to think of a person who would live in such a world and how they could be brought into a career or call of duty that required them to adventure and put themselves in harm's way. While it's easy to fall into the trope of the greedy rogue, the heroic paladin, or the brooding avenger, I would think it more satisfying to play a regular fool pushed into a position they're not entirely prepared for. This makes it more sensible when they screw up, and all the more satisfying when they rise to the occasion.
