December Meet-Up

Hi all, I've scheduled a Meet-Up for Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Battleforge Games at 12:15 p.m. We're holding it a little earlier in the month than usual due to the holidays. The Meet-Up will feature two or three different role-playing options. The AD&D 1E/2E group once again will be running an adventure. This game always draws a good crowd and I highly recommend it. If you would like further details on this game, Todd may be the best person to contact. (If he does not know the answer, chances are he knows who does!) This Meet-Up also will have a less traditional offering. Marshall has volunteered to run a Spirit of the Century game for up to 5 players. So if you are interested in setting aside swords and sorcery and playing a pulp genre one-shot for a change of pace, come and check it out. For more on Spirit of the Century, see here. I tentatively plan on playing at whichever table (AD&D 1E/2E or Spirit of the Century) has room for me. But, if the number of R.S.V.P.s calls for a third game, I will be happy to run a 4E one-shot for 4th-level characters as well. Or, if any of you would like to run a game at this Meet-Up, just let me know. It would help us plan ahead if you indicate in your R.S.V.P., which game you plan on attending. Thanks. I hope to see you at the Meet-Up. Christian ADDENDUM: In addition to the gaming opportunities noted above, Mason will be running a 4E D&D one-shot adventure with a holiday theme. It will be for 13th-level characters; Mason will have some pre-generated characters available, but players may bring their own as well. If you bring your own, please create them per the standard rules: i.e., equip them with a 12th-, 13th-, and 14th-level magic item and starting money equal to a 13th-level magic item.

Many thanks to James and Harmony for running 4E one-shots (and thanks also to Matthew for having a 4E adventure ready to run if necessary and to Marshall as well for being ready to run a SoTC game as well). Thanks also to the gentleman (whose name presently escapes me) who ran a 1E (AD&D) adventure. The ranks of the 1E/2E crowd seem to be growing at an impressive rate.

I liked the variety of gaming systems for -layers to choose involvement with.

There was the modern WotC DnD, the usual hybrid of versions1 plus 2.

And there was a nonesuch -- Spirit of the Century, for people who wanted something new and different.

A fine meeting: big enough, and plenty of variety for all.

Good fun, nice spot. Maybe the group should get a X-mas card for BFG

Is it alright if I bring an additional person? That would be +2. We could have some 2E chars already made if someone would explain the magic item rules. Would the organizer of the 2E game please email me?

Also, my +1 MIGHT be running a 3rd level game with the same magic items as Matt's game (2nd, 3rd, and 4th level magic item per PC) if the attendance needs it.

Sound good James, I'll have a 13th level and a 3rd level prepared. I'll have pregens as well and i'll be able t accomodate newer players or a paragon level group. Starting equipment is the regular (Magic Items of level +1, Level +0, Level-1 and Gold for additional equipment equal to that of a level-1 magic item).

I'll be running the 13th level Dungeon Delve, cause I'm cool and lazy like that. (See: I'm running behind for my actual Sunday campaign.) I'll have most of my books there, along with some pregen characters for the people who don't have books or aren't comfortable making a paragon-level character. I'll have a whole party's worth, from Striker to Defender, etc, etc.

Looks like me and James will have to step up to handle the massive interest it appears we'll have this week. I may prep two adventures (13th level like Mason originally planned) and then a 3rd-level adventure for the newbies since their appears to be quite a few possible attending. I'll only be be able to run one of those games obviously. but i'l try to be prepared either way.

MONDAY, DEC. 7 UPDATE: Mason has e-mailed me to say that he will not be available to DM this Sunday. So please disregard the ADDENDUM. His game is cancelled.
