I enjoyed getting together and talking some stuff out. I'd be glad to come again.

Great to meet folks and put faces to names. More structure to the discussion might help. Perhaps having a topic ready for discussion ahead of time and making sure everyone gets a chance to contribute. I'm up for more!

Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did - a great mix of perspectives on rpgs and gaming in general.

Most of those who attended last night expressed interest in continuing the Fireside Chats, so stay tuned for more information about upcoming meetings in the series. In particular, I'll be collecting people's opinions on whether or not we should theme the meetings to focus on a particular aspect of RPGs or keep it purely free form. Thanks again, all!

Many thanks to everyone who joined us last night for the 2nd Gamer's Fireside Chat. This meeting really captured what I wanted this series to be from the outset: a discussion of rules philosophy, freeform vs. more tightly-scripted rulesets, rules customization to advance quality storytelling/ roleplaying, etc. We discussed industry as a whole, the rise and fall of particular product lines, and marketing strategies of big companies like Wizards and smaller, indy game publishers.

I'll try to make it to the next one...again, it's just so far away for me for a "school night" =P

Dungeons & Dragons Encounters sent me stuff that would make good door prizes for the next Meetup. 4th Ed Books, dungeon tiles, a figure. In return they would like us to put a picture of a group of us on the site wearing nametags they provided. If someone's got a digital camera, we're in business.

Okay, so I'm only moderately regretful I missed it. I got a ferret! I've been playing with him for the past few hours. Never thought I'd want one, but he's awesome. Anyway, please let me know when the next meetup is. Unless something else comes up, I'll definitely be there!

Sorry to see we lost a few would-be attendees for this event, but I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who can still make it. Look for me in the cafe area of the bookstore - I'll be the guy in the red polo shirt with the Nebraska logo on it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
