Opening for David Vine's “Nine by Vine” Photo Exhibit
Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm

Capturing the quick and the dead was his forte during the 1960s and 1970s. Today David Vine's still photography is at the other end of the spectrum. He says, “As a photojournalist then, accidents, sports and mayhem of all kinds were the bread and butter of newspaper photography. Now I collect images I like and combine them into a different kind of picture story.”

Nearly half a century and two or three careers later his new photo series “Nine by Vine” include details, glimpses really, of everyday things that catch his eye. He combines them into a unique matrix of nine photos (3x3) in a 13-inch square print. There are two series of nine prints in each series. This totals 162 photos in 18 prints.

Each matrix of nine photos represents such themes as buttons, clouds, flowers, hardware, industrial robot, signs, windows and umbrellas. They compel the viewer to study each one-inch square photo within the square print. Vine concluded, “The range of still and video images I capture today include themes that attracted me even when I was a teenager, but today I have the pleasure of digitally reproducing them in this unique display.”

According to gallery owner Tim Conway, “David's work is very reasonably priced. That's in keeping with our policy of selling affordable artwork. All of his photos are mounted and matted and they are priced at $35 each” The show will run to the end of May. Gallery hours are Mon - Fri: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sat: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
