Employment in the Digital Age

Aaron McCall linked a great article on twitter from Douglas Rushkoff, which just touched my brain:

Are Jobs Obselete?

Bryan and I have had about three conversations about some of the points raised in the article, the fundamental premise being: Society is about organizing ourselves, not the wealth, jobs, or other means we harness to achieve that organization.

This point should appeal to the die hard Doctypist. One factor in our association is the vague possibility of indirect economic return over time by communicating to like-minded people ("networking" as the executive class calls it); however, what keeps people coming back is curiosity, passion, and good times. It's not our job to organize, we simply choose to organize.
