The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for the families of children who are being treated at Levine Children's Hospital. The families are able to stay at the house free if charge and are provided meals during their child's hospitalization so that they don't have to deal with the stress and expense of travel during an already difficult time.
The house has members of the community come in every day and bake cookies for the guests, what makes a house more like home than the smell of freshly baked goods?
We will arrive at the house at 10am to receive nametags, aprons and to sign off on their rules and regulations for volunteers. We should be ready to bake by 1030am and should be cleaned up and done by 1230 at the latest. For those of us who haven't been to the house before, one of the staff members is usually available to lead us on a tour when we complete our activity.
Children are welcome to attend this event as long as they are supervised by a parent. If you intend to bring a child or another guest be sure to include them in your RSVP! It will be a busy atmosphere so please be sure to use your discretion in bringing your child.
