Volunteer Opportunity at Second Harvest Food Bank

We will be sorting, inspecting and packaging food donations for distribution to local area homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other agencies, as well as assisting with some general organization in the warehouse.

Our shift will be from 6 – 8:00 PM but you can leave earlier if needed.

Volunteer Requirements
1. Arrive ten minutes early to park and sign in so that we can start on time.
2. All volunteers MUST wear closed toe shoes. NO sandals.
3. For safety reasons, use of cell phones or other audio devices is prohibited while volunteering.

Hi Lisa, I'm going to be a little late, stuck in traffic.

Lisa - I'm sorry but I've had car trouble and they were able to fit me in later today. Not sure how long or what the deal is. I've been back in Chicago and miss working with you. Hopefully next time!

Hi Laura - Definitely dress for comfort. They have giant fans but the warehouse isn't air conditioned. It will get warm today as we start working. Anything goes as long as you have closed toe shoes. I'll see you tonight!!

Any other clothing suggestions? This will be my first time volunteering there and wasn't sure if it gets really hot, cold or whatever.
