Our presentation at the offices of The Open Planning Project will explore the ways organizing and decision-making software can be used to develop resident support for the .nyc TLD. And we'll begin to imagine its ongoing planning role in our communities and city.
Here are some links to bone up on our effort prior to the meeting.
A fundamental premise of our operation is that the .nyc TLD is a resource for all New Yorkers, and thus we run an open corporation with the preponderance of our effort transparent and available online. Our community wiki (open to all and providing a way for all to comment and contribute to our plans) has info on many areas including:
Our blog presents announcements, reports on upcoming events, our experiences at these events, and it provides an opportunity for comment. And a slide show is also available.
I'm particularly proud of a paper written with Dr. Michael Gurstein, Towards City-TLDs in the Public Interest, which cogently presents the reasons we need a TLD and how our city can benefit from its operation in the public interest.
If you can't make, we'll be making another presentation on May 21, 7 PM at the Jefferson Market Library.
