Did we pick a book for next month?

Author's general lack of understanding of military life, and of soldiers in particular, forces author to twist and distort reality in order to match up with his juvenile, "Bush is bad" agenda. His characters are stock characters that have been seen in dozens of novels and movies...The out of touch wealthy conservatives who think war is great...the uneducated, foul mouthed soldiers...the wise and somewhat worldly senior sergeant...the rather screwed up family of Billy. Certain elements were unnecessary. We really did not need to have a flash back to Billy's meeting with his family, which added nothing to the plot. The scene with SGT. Dime Kissing Billy on the mouth after the firefight (a nod to possible homosexuality, or maybe to show the intimate way soldiers are knit together?) was not needed, and was never developed later on in the book (if you show a gun in act one, it had better go off in act three). Generally and specifically disappointed with the book, and the author.

I want to go, but the book has been in transit to me from the library since our last meeting. Have not read any of it. I will see you all next month. Can't wait to hear what the book will be

I guess I RSVP'd too late. I'll read the book and see if anyone cancels
