RE: [nightlife-344] Happy New Year 2008 - Thanks for coming out with us...

I am an organizer of two south bay singles group and a member of Drinking with strangers & no flakes.  Though the new years party was going to by first event with Kenway and I had to miss it, selling my ticket, due to catching bronchitis on the plane back from Chicago, I am sure, having been to a previous Kenway/

Randy/Jessica creation “The Hollywood Halloween Party” that they put their hearts into creating a good party for all.

In the planning stages and up to an event, no one knows exactly how it may turn out or how many people will show.  With so many people coming there are bound to be problems.  But what makes a fun party is not really food.  It is not really the location.  It is not really the ease of moving around or getting a drink.  Though all those things help but not really.

What makes a great party (and think about your best party you have attended) are the people.  I have attended a number of meet up events and each time even if just a few people showed up, for the most part, I have found meet-up people to be a lot of fun.  We are tired of sitting in front of our computers seeking someone.  We are adventurers willing to get into our cars, dress for the event, put our best foot forward and go have fun!  That is a special type of person.

Organizers such like Kenway, Randy and Jessica are meetup adventurers with a plan to have fun.  A willingness to pay Meet-up.com $72 for 6 months to post a group gathering people around them with the one intent to meet new people and have fun.  Look at their sites.  Actually take a good look at most of the groups on meetup.  We are adventurers and we can fun no matter where we are in any venue.

I am sure the party was a blast and the little inconveniences just that inconvenient.   Be thankful!  At least you all went out and partied.  I coughed the New Year in sweating and hacking to my own new song.

Thank you Kenway, Randy and Jessica for all of your hard work and putting it together and creating a party to go to, an opportunity to have fun with new friends, possibly meeting someone special.  We are very grateful.

I hope each of you will thank Kenway, Randy and Jessica.  Compliment on the positive and forget the negatives (trust me they know the negatives).

May each of you enjoy the best of your old years into your new years.

Peace and love,

Rebecca

Kenway/Randy/Jessica and all who helped,

Thanks for all of your efforts to pull this off.  You guys went above and beyond.  I think the manager of the restaurant owes the group a written explanation that you can send to all of us.  Otherwise, when we next find ourselves rating the restaurant on Zagat, et al, our reviews may be affected.

Dear Strangers,

If you did not come to the event, Have a Happy New Year, you do not need to ready further, otherwize...

I already see mixed reviews about the party tonight, and before there are any more bad reviews, I want to tell you, we were guaranteed more staff, more accessible alcohol, enough food for the whole night and a band and a DJ. We were not supposed to work the door or do crowd control and we were also guaranteed more space.

Last night at 10:30 PM we found out that they did not get us a band/dj. Randy/Jessica and I scrambled, then dealt with many other things throughout the day. We were still assured they can handle us at the bar.

We (myself/Randy/Jessica) worked hard to make this a good event, but were limited by the empty guarantees of the establishment. Jessica and I were the ones that ordered the late night pizza, I was the one trying to get the champagne out on time and we were the ones helping people.

Please consider the above when rating the party, and tell me if you can find any other party in LA charging so little for entry/dj/food and alcohol.

Lastly, we did not do this for profit, we did not make money off of this, we only do these meetup events for fun.

Please give positive ratings and comments at:

Have a Happy New Year :-)
