Mt Soledad Multi-Rotor Trials

I've recently flown twice at the veteren's memorial and the view is amazing up there! I did do FPV for a moment with my brother as the spotter, but if we are there during the weekend when it is busier, LOS may be best depending on comfort level.

I've been working at ComicCon for the last 4 days and my family won't let me out of the house this time around. Looks like I'll have to miss this one myself this time. Have fun, be safe and get some great footage.

Not sure how my meetup got renamed to include the word drone and then got scheduled without me, but I'm afraid I can't make it, sorry all. Hope everyone has fun! It's beautiful flying up there!

I'd call them tools cause I envision them being used productively in our society someday

Chance what you're trying to do is awesome and I applaud that, especially with the 3d printers, etc. I probably won't participate in the UG unless they drop the word from the name, primarily because I don't appreciate the drama and whatnot that surrounds it. Does that mean I need to leave the Meetup? At least with this meetup, you have the other terms before the evil D word (lol..)

There is another meetup for San Diego called SoCal Multirotors (http://www.meetup.com...) that I'll also fly with but I just urge you to continue to teach new people the proper and ethical uses for our models, and explain the "perceived" difference between Drones and what we do, regardless of how "cool" the word "Drone" sounds.

Willing and interested to see what happens with this. Worst case we bail and go to the bay or something.

I would be down with this....ive been wanting to get some video up there.
Keep in mind that there are those radio towers close by and are probably pumping out some gnarly noise. I have heard that some people had trouble with their copters up there...

Haha hey Kyle, I didn't even see that you replied! :) Yeah man once I get back from London we'll have to go. I'm sure we can get Frank up there ripping up some sky too, before plummeting into the TV towers! :D

Tons of radio interference up there - bring a tesla meter to see. Not a great idea to fly up there with all the signal noise. :-/

Well then where you guys gonna have the meet up and what date. I'm down by Morley field park and its pretty nice here,

I've been lucky so far with signal noise and not had any issues, but again it could be luck. There is a lot going on for sure with the tv towers up there. I'm on the road for two weeks but I may drop a schedule on this with no guarantee that we can fly. I'll have an RF Explorer by then too so we can at least see how bad it is before anything goes in the air.

Interesting, I didn't know people were having issues. I know of a few different people that have gone up there with stock phantoms as well as other gear w/o issue, but still - good to know. Here's a video from one of my trips there.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or2gGyMfZgo

FYI - my Phantom will not boot up anywhere except from the very eastern corner of the park, giving the "digital compass failure" error. Also, most car key FOBS do not work there, so I suspect strong radio interference from the towers. Underneath the cross itself my Phantom claims it cannot find GPS.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
