UAV Day at the Reuben H Fleet

We'll be on KUSI talking about it all on Tuesday Oct. 1 morning news.

About the SDDUG static presentation

The SDDUG will be showing several multirotor and fixed wing systems. We have both fully manual and fully autonomous vehicles. We will also have a quadcopter simulator, lots are parts and building materials and lots of expertise to help to build and maintain your own rigs. We will be exhibiting several videos produced by the group including some really awesome footage of the USS Midway.

About the SDDUG Workshop

We will describe and demonstrate all of the components of a typical budget multirotor helicopter, how they function and how they are controlled for the typical consumer vehicle. We’ll also talk about pricing, venues and safety.

About the Open Source UAVs

Open source multirotors are a very interesting genre as it allows the greatest amount of capability for the dollar. We’ll discuss and demonstrate the pros and cons of using open source hardware and software.

About the UAV Simulator

We will have a multi-rotor flight simulator set up so that you can get the feeling of piloting one before you go out and spend good money on one before you know if you like it. This is the best way to get oriented to the vehicle without putting your expensive rig at risk.

Really enjoyed the meet-up today! Thanks for organizing it with the RH Fleet. I thought it was an impressive display of unique gear, and quite an assembly of experts to talk about what is working well.

I didn't mean to turn the 3DR booth into my own engineering Q&A, but I sure did get a lot of out of the tips and insights.

    Cheers.

Starts at 10. So I'll be there at 9ish getting ready. I am trying to get an indoor net cage set up by then. We have a lot going on, so your expertise will be greatly appreciated. There will be sims, talks about consumer flying, safety, a mini build workshop, etc.
