Avery thanks for taking the time and giving me more insight on the subject.  I have been reading alot on the internet and know there is very little known.  I myself am a atheist and always searching for the answer to everything.  It sounds that Druid was a type of religion that was frowned on, especially by those Christian's. I was raised Catholic by my parents choice, but once I was able to think 4 myself (12 or 13)  I ran from it. The brother and priest put fear in me, not love, I didn't want any part of that. I moved to WA in August this year and was living In a place called Bellingham, where I first heard of Druid ism lol can I say that...but I was hanging out with some gay folks, my sister is gay and for some reason I get along with lesbians betters then my straight people like myself???  Yes I am confused by that myself, and I am no kid 48 grew up in the Bronx during the 70s when racism was bad and I was Italian and a product of my environment, I am actually writing my own Bronx tale, that another story. Some how the more I research druidism ( if I can spell it that way) the more in common I am having with it. I love Washington the mountain's the earth normal people and weed lol kidding or am I. It sounds like the rituals as sacrifice was for evil people, and the sex back then was some what of a roman Caligula, Senate  thing, I can't speak on that because no writings of there feelings existed. But I like to think it was becoming one during the act, what do I know... well again thanks for taking the time to express your feelings on the subject, it was well written and as stupid as I am I understood it thanks.. I'd be curious to know what you've been reading, sounds pretty sensational. The Celts once covered most of NW Europe as well as the British Isles, and had an educated and sophisticated clergy: the Druids. True, human sacrifice is attributed to them in some early records, but usually by conquering peoples who practiced human sacrifice themselves (ie the Romans) and had a vested interest in denigrating the Celts who had stood strong against them for so many generations.

As for sex, we Druids believe that the body, as part of nature, is sacred. But we do not ritualize sexual contact as you might find in the practice of Wicca.

In short, Druids believe in the immanence of our Creator, God in Nature, that sort of thing. We do use ritual, but it is mostly aimed at spreading peace thru the world and connecting to nature, and thus to the divine. If you're interested in learning more, I would suggest reading Philip Carr-Gomm, John & Caitlin Matthews, RJ Stewart, John Micheal Greer for modern Druid viewpoints and beliefs. However, the easily obtained book by Stuart Piggott is considered inaccurate and biased against Druidism....it is not a reliable source of information.

Hope this helps. Bright blessings on your path!
