Drumming The Soul Awake with Jaime Meyer

A very different drum this Saturday:

Healing Ceremony for D.R.

Saint Paul Council of Churches building

2 blocks west of Snelling on Summit

7 PM

Dear Drummers,

Our evening together this Saturday will be different from just about any drum I think I've offered in 13 years. It's going to be intense too. The night will culminate in a healing ceremony for someone who I've been working with recently.

We will drum for awhile and we'll have some fun, but the entire evening will be for the purpose of bringing healing to someone who came to me seeking the Big Help. For the record: I'm not the Big Help, the Spirit is the Big Help, and everyone present Saturday will be the channels for the Big Help.  We will work together to change someone's life, directly. Everyone in the room will be assigned a task to construct the container for a safe and effective transformation of this person's life.

I have had a long-time vision for our drumming community: that we would be a community that heals one another. It's a naive and romantic vision that, in this shattered, fast-paced, me-first, panic-driven, urban life we are in, that we would decide to come together as a community to conduct healing for one another. Of course the Drum Spirit, and each person's guiding spirits are in the room with us each time we drum together, and our drumming groups are always healing in many ways. Sometimes it's more direct, sometimes less so. But this Saturday we will work consciously as a community on behalf of one person.

If you've ever been healed by the drum and are grateful, if you've ever wanted to help someone change their life from the inside out, if you are a healer, if you want to be a part of an extraordinarily human experience, if you want to learn a little about the mystery of shamanic healing, come. It's all good.

And if you need healing, come. It will come to you indirectly through your open-hearted work on behalf of someone you probably won't know. And there will also be some direct healing available for you as part of the structure of the night.

You can show up with no expectations, skill or experience, and if you're a little freaked out by the whole notion of healing someone, that's good. That's your signal to come. You'll leave as a different person for two reasons that I can't explain here, and you'll have to remind to explain on Saturday. If you want to participate at a level or two deeper, please contact me and I'll give you your task.

To get this out of the way: Like all of my drumming work, I am sustained by donations. At a Friday or Saturday drum you are always free to offer money or not to. I'll make room for your monetary support on Saturday, because my children and I like to eat. If you believe that making room for money at a healing ceremony is wrong, you'll want to skip this one.

See you soon,
