Sorry for the flow of things last night, but it was a very strange mix of activity last night. Bad Mother Cluckers will not be our future location. That was our last night. Thank you to all for your feedback.
When I selected this location, they had just opened and .50 cent beer night was not part of the flow. Last night may have been an aberration because Mill Ave. was closed and lots of the younger "let's drink lots of beer and be silly crowed" was at BMC because there was no other place to go. Nonetheless their business and customers have evolved and grown and they are doing well. Going forward, I do not think the family friendly tradition and vibe we have long established as part of the Burning Bush will be a good match for a Friday night at the BMC.
BMC has been a gracious host and has welcomed us with open arms and spirit. I will still continue some other music related things there, but the Burning Bush Drum Circle is moving on. If you are in the area, stop by the BMC have a meal and thank the Manager, Sam, for hosting us and supporting the circle. He and his team have been magnificent.
A large number of you have asked that we move back to the Ice-House. I have made that request and will keep you posted. Should the Ice-House be willing to host us again, I will need a few folks to help me manage and organize. Nothing major, just some help in making sure everything is picked up and taken care of. My plate is very full and I am unable to do this by myself.
I will keep you posted on what I hear from the Ice-House. If they are unavailable, I will most likely not go forward with restarting it somewhere else.
We have had a great six-plus years as Arizona's largest longest continuous drum circle. It is amazing what can happen when someone wants to be a great community citizen and back to having the leadership and vision to bring this project to the AZ Rhythm Connection.
It has been a labor of love, community and generosity. We have been featured on each local news channel (several times). We have been covered in the New Times, AZ Central and the Republic. It is amazing that this meetup now has a membership of nearly 900 persons. This informal gathering earned the support from the local Police and Fire Departments as they were always helpful in making it a great And to think it started with an idea from Kurt, Sue and Frank.
Most of all, thanks to each of you for establishing a great rhythm event.
I will keep you posted...
