Cleveland Drum Circle Meetup Group Weekly Meetup

Lower part of Edgewater State Park near the pavilion and the beach.

This is an open, free-form circle, usually without facilitation. A drummer usually starts a beat and others join in, as they wish. Many people join in from the park and we bring extra drums and percussion. We try to keep it simple, at first, so beginners feel comfortable. Intermediate, advanced and professional drummers will take leads and solos, once the rhythms are in synch.

Participants come and go during the two to four hours during the circle. Beside drummers, we occasionally have wind instruments, guitars, dancers, hoop and fire chain dancers join us. Many people just come to watch, listen and enjoy the park. There are many other activities at the park and beach including: swimming, sun bathing, kite flying, soccer, bike riding/rentals, walking, jogging, fishing at the pier and breakwalls, picnics, group meetings and cookouts.

If the weather is nice, we will drum on the grass northwest of the pavilion (between the pavilion and the lake). The drum circle area is near the bike and walking path.

If rain, we play in the southwest section of the pavilion, west of the large lower parking lot. Last year almost every Sunday was great!!! Just look for or listen for the drums and drummers!

Thanks for the great directions! Do we each need to bring a chair?

UPDATE: w49TH St. from Detroit Ave. is the access to Edgewater, but once you exit the park, you can only go West toward Lake Avenue.
*If you're an East Sider, I would suggest going to W.117th and head south to I-90. or, you can take Detroit Ave. back to downtown and get on Route 2 at East 9th St.

Hi Bonnie, take 480E to 176 N. then get on 90W. it would be easiest to exit at the W41/44 exit, go RIGHT (North) to Lorain Ave. take a left at Lorain to W.45th and continue North until you reach Detroit Ave. at Detroit, take a left. you will pass West Tech High School and then make a right on W.49th. this will curve around to the West Shoreway (route 2) and take you to Edgewater Park.

*ATTENTION All: from May 30th to June 15th, the West Shoreway (Route 2) will be CLOSED from Lake Ave. to East 9th street for filming a movie. access to Edgewater Park will be **W.49th Street from Detroit Ave. ONLY** Police will direct groups of cars onto a short expanse of the Shoreway to Edgewater Park/Wendy Island, and upon leaving the park, exit the same way back to W. 49th and Detroit Ave. ***Please allow extra time as there will surely be lines and delays while police direct traffic.
