This is an open, free-form circle, usually without facilitation. A drummer usually starts a beat and others join in, as they wish. There are some extra drums and percussion. We try to keep it simple, at first, so beginners feel comfortable. Intermediate, advanced and professional drummers will take leads and solos, once the rhythms are in synch.
Sometimes a professional or intermediate member will teach some free, beginner rhythms to the group, at the start of the circle, then open jamming takes place.
Participants come and go during the two to four hours during the circle. Beside drummers, we occasionally have wind instruments, guitars, dancers or hoop dancers join us. Many people just come to watch, listen and enjoy the drumming in the park. We encourage park visitors to participate or watch.
Some picnic table bench seats are available or bring your own chairs.
