Cleveland Drum Circle Meetup Group Weekly Meetup

This is an open, free-form circle, usually without facilitation. A drummer usually starts a beat and others join in, as they wish. There are some extra drums and percussion. We try to keep it simple, at first, so beginners feel comfortable. Intermediate, advanced and professional drummers will take leads and solos, once the rhythms are in synch.

Sometimes a professional or intermediate member will teach some free, beginner rhythms to the group, at the start of the circle, then open jamming takes place.

Participants come and go during the two to four hours during the circle. Beside drummers, we occasionally have wind instruments, guitars, dancers or hoop dancers join us. Many people just come to watch, listen and enjoy the drumming in the park. We encourage park visitors to participate or watch.

Some picnic table bench seats are available or bring your own chairs.

Enter our warm weather location, Edgewater State Park from State Route 2 - the Shoreway, just west of downtown Cleveland and head left to the FREE large parking lot of the lower level. Public rest rooms, water fountains and concessions are available starting Memorial Day weekend.

Started out nice and warm, then rain. We drummed in the shelter and it sounded great in there!

Weather predicted for tomorrow is 73 to 75 degrees and sunny, with a possible shower, so we are at Edgewater State Park at 3 pm. If rain, we can play in the shelter. Should be warm, until sundown. Note: Ivy, a regular Cle DC dancer, is performing at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Sunday before DC, at 12:30 pm. Stop by a see her perform for a World Music Event - belly dancing.
