Drum/Dance at Yoga Shala (N. Williams)

Greetings movers, shakers 'n all ye rhythm-makers!

Bring your drum
And your restless feet
As one we become
Hearts shall open and meet

Tap your fingers
And sway to the beat
As the rhythm rises and lingers
Together we feel more complete

Come alone or bring your friends. You don't have to be a drummer to come; come just to watch or listen. And if you're a drummer, all skill levels are welcome. And feel free to bring other acoustic instruments -- didjridoo, flute, guitar, harmonica, whatever.

Microphones and PA will be available for people who would like to sing or for use with other soft instruments.  We will also have a few 'Toyboxes' full of other percussive noise-toys and some extra drums for sharing.  If you have extra instruments to share, please bring them.

As for dancing, you DO NOT need to be a trained dancer (although we do have those from time to time) to get up and move to the beat. As long as YOU are having fun dancing, anything goes.

It's great to see the drummers, didj players, and dancers all playing off of each other.

Don't be a spectator, PARTICIPATE. YOU are the show!

KIDS ARE MOST WELCOME!!

(Please support our use of Yogashala space with a suggested donation of $2.00)

Love and Light,

~ Eric (Sage, Becca, Susan, Jeff, Dave and Doug)

Someone from our group left a ladies hat at Bula Kava House on Saturday. If it's yours please email me, I have it.

All the main organizers did a great job teaching us so much about "listening" & playing together! Fantastic singing by Sage! Thank you to the dancers for being so great with my daughter! She learns from you all :-)

Thank you for a great shared experience; I'm glad there was some structure for more cohesive rhythms. I really had a blast and am grateful for making some new friends. Can't wait until next time!

I had a wonderful experience. Please feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions on how I can teach about global awareness and cultures of the world. I also like to find out about interesting events, as I am new to town. Kind regards, Christine (Satori)

Ack! So wanted to come but got held up later than planned at home. Did get into town and found the venue so I know where it is for next time. (I just moved here from Maine a few weeks ago.) Hope you all had a fantastic time!

Hi everyone, I'm planning to come out tomorrow night and just want to be sure I'll be able to get in the wheelchair access door. I'm not a wheelchair user, but wear leg braces, and stairs are better avoided. Also I'll have an easier time dancing if I can leave my shoes on... :) Looking forward to it!!

Hey friends, looks like this is going to be another epic circle! The only thing that could make this nite better is going to be a big shell of Kava after the circle! So, if you're so inclined, please join me at Bula Kava House on 31st and Divsion, once we've concluded at Yoga Shala.
But wait there's more! The Kava House will allow us to bring our instruments and jam there too! They only ask that we keep it somewhat low-key so as not to disturb the neighboring businesses.
So consider yourself invited, and I hope to see you there!

This has always been such a blast. Eric started a great community thing here with this post-jam kava ritual. I've gotten to know many of you a lot more, thanks to the kava euphoria. Looking forward to more of it!

Thank you so much Susan. I will check it out. I just found out that there are belly dance classes at Euphoria Studios which is right down the street from my house. I really appreciate the feed back.

There were wonderful dancers last friday night. My daughter and I were wondering about taking belly dancing lessons. Can you let us know how to get in touch with one of the dancers...sorry to say we do not remember any of their names. Thanks so much.

So sorry we will not be able to make the next meetup after having so much fun at our first one last Friday. We are going out of town that weekend. We look forward to being able to join you again soon. The holidays might prevent us coming until the beginning of the new year. A wonderful way to start off the new year. Wonderful to look forward to.

We'll be looking forward to it too, we're glad you could come.

This will be my first time here and my second drum circle! I don't have a drum or any real instrument for that matter! Does anyone have anything that i could borrow?? I am looking forward to it!

    November 25, 2012

    • Eric

Hi Teri! Yes, there is always something extra to play, even a speaker for softer instruments. Many of us bring two or three, and a few bring a whole bunch. Just ask whenever you see more instruments than people in a given area. And welcome along, glad you joined us!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
