Monthly Drupal Meetup at Stetson's

Our regular meetup is the second Monday of every month at Stetson's on U St. Join us for a round of lightning talks and plenty of socializing. This is a pretty casual event: everyone is welcome, and by no means do you need to look professional!

We don't have a set schedule, but just so you know what to expect, this is more or less how things tend to go:

  • Hang out for a bit and meet new people
  • A few quick lightning talks and any announcements
  • "Stump the expert" panel, where we discuss "how would I do this in Drupal?"-type questions
  • Quick introductions of everyone
  • More hanging out and drinks.

If you're interested in presenting a short lightning talk (5-7 minutes or so), leave a comment here or email Danielle ([masked]). Some ideas of what you could present:

  • Show off a newly-launched Drupal site
  • Demo a contrib module that you've released
  • Give a preview of changes being made in the next version of Drupal core
  • Share what you learned at a recent Drupalcon or camp
  • Talk about any Drupal-related topic as it relates to project management, design, development, accessibility, usability, etc.

We hope to see you there!

Oh yeah, the DC Drupal Lab meetup that I mentioned in announcements will have it's inaugural meet and greet next Tuesday 7/29 @ Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights, co-hosted with the PHP Developers Bev Subgroup meetup. The regularly scheduled meetup will take place recurring the first Tuesday of every month at Affinity Lab on U St from 6:30-8:30, starting 8/5. Stop by with your code problems, solutions, curiosities, and contributions.

Keenan, thanks for timing my presentation as a backup. Was good to confirm that my presentation - Intro to Drupal 8: 16 topics in 15 minutes - came in under the mark by 7.42 seconds, esp. since my timer blacked out on me five minutes in :-)

Great meet up last night. Really enjoyed the topics/presentations and of course hanging out and getting to know the community.

I nominate Lindsey Kope and any other recently-landed-my-first-real-dev-job! folks to panelize and let the group throw some questions at them.

I've got a somewhat high-level presentation the I've performed a couple times recently, reshuffled for different audiences, that discusses some of the key updates to look forward to in D8. I think I can scale it back to ~15 minutes with Q&A after. Also, this could be a good lead in to Keenan's more code-oriented discussion.

If this sounds like something the group would interested in, please comment. Alternatively, Danielle suggested a round table discussion, I'm just concerned that this wouldn't be as informative as a presentation with follow up interactive discussion.

Hi, everyone. I'm still looking for speakers for tonight. Is anyone interested in giving a short 5-7 minute presentation on anything they're working on or anything interesting they've just read about or tried in Drupal?

Hello Folks, I am working on an engagement and would like to know what is the hourly consulting rate for a senior drupal developer in the DC area and/or annual salary (if its a contract to hire)?
