The Drupal Coffee Club

The Drupal Coffee Club

We are an informal gathering for anyone who wants to learn more about Drupal and get in touch with other members of the community. Bring your laptop down and show us what your working on or just sit back with a slice of cake and join the chat.

We hope this will be a great opportunity to have more hands on time with Drupal and for people new to the Drupal community to have the opportunity to chat with other developers and novices alike. There will be a few of us there throughout the evening who will help with any questions or look at any Drupal problems you have, there's no set time or agenda. So come on down anytime between 5:00 and 10.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I just started working with Drupal within the last couple months, & have launched a site successfully. It's very basic & I have several questions on how to enhance it. I don't leave work until 6 pm, so I'll be there later - but I'm hoping some of you will still be around & can help so I can learn some new things and make sure I'm on the right track.

Do you have opportunities at your meetups for companies hiring Drupal talent to announce that sort of thing?

    February 25, 2013

    • Jason S.

Sometimes, I'll bring it up at the meeting. The regular meetup is the better venue for that sort of thing, and I'll be sure to mention it then too.

Is it typical to run to 10PM? Trying to plan. Thanks.

We should try some google Hangouts with the same format, it may help to connect groups and bring drupalistas closer together :-)

#drupal-atlanta or #drupal-georgia on Freenode :) ? #drupal-georgia is listed on d.o., but I seem to be mostly the only one three. ATL is the largest group I know with no IRC presence... unless I'm missing the right channel.

LaTrelle -- We have a member that has offered their training room with projection screen, perfect for small workshop style programs. We could schedule a separate meeting for Drupal demos if there is sufficient interest, and a Drupal expert available to lead the program.

      Yea, sounds great

Yes, Barb that would be great!!!! I attended a html5 gaming meetingUp last week and I got so much from watching the presenter go through his steps.

I hope it's ok to make a suggestion here, since I am a newbie of sorts, this idea may have been posed - I wonder if it would be possible to have one of the Drupal experts create a site, from beginning to end, at our meetings. I suggest this, and perhaps it's only me, but once I see how something is done I can take it and run with it. Obviously due to time constraints the site can't be over the top in complexity, but I thought if each week, a site build focused on the use of banners/slideshows, views and panels, etc. Perhaps even a semi-recreation of one of the Drupal showcase sites could be used so you don't have to come up with data. And keep the site length down to 5 or six page. This I think would spark questions and answer questions for those who could not get to the experts.

The ADUG meetup group has 2 meetings a month, the other is more focussed to group presentations. The coffee club is one-on-one help and support for Drupal problems. There are a number of people on hand who are willing to help people out with either learning something new or resolving specific problems.

We can put you in touch with Barb who can help table a more focused group discussion and schedule sessions.

We initially setup the Coffee club to have more personal hands on with Drupal issues, most people who come to the club have questions they are looking for answers to or looking to learn more about Drupal. The Coffee club is a great format for these sessions and gives everyone individual attention where possible.

I am so happy to run across this group!! I have no clue why my Dev is having problems enabling my website and past my due date. I need some serious help, so I will be there to learn or get assistance.
