Site Building with Drupal OpenPublish distro, Part 2

MATRIX Resources, Inc. (map)

Selected By: Barb Prebble

For our March program, Jeff Walpole and Frank Febbraro, co-founders of Washington, DC-based Phase2 Technology, will join ADUG to continue our discussion of OpenPublish (OP), the premier platform for social publishing websites in Drupal.

Last month ADUG’s Kent Lester talked about his first “out of box” experience using OpenPublish to build a news site. In Part 2, Jeff and Frank will discuss the past, present and future vision for OpenPublish and the enthusiastic community that is building up around it. At this meetup you’ll:

1. Learn how Phase2 went about building one of Drupal’s first “distributions”, including an explanation of OpenCalais, the semantic meta tagging engine that powers many of OP’s features;

2. Get an in-depth look at OP modules, features-based architecture, and modifications to the most recent version, 1.7;

3. Hear about plans for the release of version 2.0 at DrupalCon in April, including features, install profile evolution, admin UI, theming / sub-theming approaches and section fronts;

4. Find out how you can participate in the growing OpenPublish community including documentation, opportunities for partnerships, a network of new implementers and a new web site. For more on Phase2 Technology, see: http://www.phase2tech...

This promises to be an exciting and informative meet-up. Please RSVP as soon as possible on our Meetup.com page. Due to facility constraints, attendance will be capped at 50! ADUG meetups are a great chance to network with like-minded peers and learn more about how Drupal is being leveraged. We encourage everyone -- from beginners to advanced users -- to attend.

If you missed last month's meetup, we’ve got videos here. Thank you Utzu Logigan

    This was a great meet up but you guys should consider listing directions from the interstate and parking instructions next time. I did at least 4 laps around the massive Target plaza there before realizing it was not on the Target side and ran into a closed access route for the parking area.

    I did 2 laps, should have trusted my initial instinct and just turned in the first time.
