The theme for the Drupalcafé of September 19th was "Media" but we'll abandon that to allow a special Guest speaker from Uganda to take the stage. Reinier Battenberg from Mountbatten Ltd will present their work on Charts Graphs. We'll keep talking about Media too though.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: The Technical Society of Utrecht will be hosting an event in front of (or near) our venue. Parking will be very difficult so please use public transport or park nearby.
One Shoe will aim the spotlight on the Media module. Drupal engineer Robin Celie of One Shoe closely monitors Media module development and is convinced that this module can help end users get a lot more results from media management. In Robin’s own words;
“The media module is an amazing set of functionality, built on top of the entity api, with lots of really nice features available in contrib space. While version 2 is still in active development, only 3 semi-critical issues remain, so it's time to start testing this. I have been testing the Media module for the past 6 months and I have to admit, it’s already more stable then most people assume. Currently more and more contrib modules are working on support for the media and file_entity projects, and I've made a list I would love to demo.”
Media management is an important part of content management, but it can be much more than simply adding meta information to images and video files. Robin will provide the kickoff for this Drupalcafé. ;
After a short break, Reinier Battenberg of Mountbatten Ltd will take the stage. He'll be talking about Charts Graphs and their work on it. About this subject, Reinier says;
"My plan is to speak about our work on Charts Graphs. Making Charts with multiple libraries is one thing - so can a few other libraries. What makes Charts Graphs unique is what no other module can do (yet); use SOLR as the back-end for these visualizations. I will demonstrate why this is exciting and how this works. I will also demonstrate the ability to use Search API to render charts (and maps). This can be done using devtrac.ug and Open Aid Map. Open Aid Map is planned for a release at the end of next week, so on time for OKCon."
One Shoe is excited to host such a special guest speaker and we're looking forward to this event. The program will be;
