Drupalcafe September - topic: Symfony

After a lengthy summer break, we look forward to another year with great Drupalcafés. The topic for Drupalcafé September is set on Symfony. As many of you probably know, Symfony lies at the heart of Drupal 8. The topic is inspired by our speaker - Matthias Noback - who will be sharing a preview of his Drupalcon presentation about Symfony & Drupal Events with you. Matthias will also be giving a copy of his book "A year with Symfony" to one lucky attendee.

Matthias - "Events are the new hooks. But what is an event really? How can you best describe an event in your code? What types of events are there, and how do you decide whether or not to implement something as an event?

In this talk we take a look at how events are essential to processing a Request and producing a Response. We take a look at the Symfony EventDispatcher and related classes that you need when you want to hook into this process. When you know all about the event system and how you can implement your own events, we discuss some situations which may or may not be good use cases for events. You will learn to decide if using events is the right solution for your problem."

We expect the programme for this evening will be;

• 17.00 doors open

• 17.45 presentation #1 : Matthias Noback

• 18.15 break

• 18.30 presentation #2: still open for applications

• 19.00 drinks

• 20.00 end

Location: One Shoe, Janskerkhof 16, 3512 BM UTRECHT

Drupalcafé is always looking for themes and speakers. Submit your theme ideas and / or willingness to give a presentation for future Drupalcafé’s via [masked] using the subject header “Drupalcafe submission”.

Drupalcafé is an open meeting forum, for- and by Drupal enthusiasts. Drupalcafé features presentations, open discussions and inspiring demonstrations that promote knowledge sharing of Drupal. While enjoying a drink, we present and discuss relevant developments with regard to the Drupal open source software, but also adjacent topics. Drupalcafé is a monthly event, visited by (amongst others) ICT managers, (Drupal) software developers and people who are interested in open source CMS software.
