it's going to be a long wait until the 50th anniversary in November...but the Meetup group hopes to help you get through by holding a very special "Losing the Time War" screening!

That's right - for one day, we're focusing on three tales that focus on the Doctor's eternal battle against the Daleks, showing stories from the new and classic series that provide some great examples of Who's unique storytelling...and provide some great rationale why the Daleks were on the "losing" end of the Time War...

Our first selection will be Robert Shearman's Dalek" from the first season of the new series - a distress signal brings the Ninth Doctor and Rose to an underground bunker in Utah. They discover a monomaniacal tycoon who reveals to the pair his collection of unearthly treasures, including one which the Doctor knows all too well....

...and then we'll catch Steven Moffatt's Season 7 opener Asylum of the Daleks, in which the Eleventh Doctor, Amy, and Rory find themselves kidnapped and taken prisoner by the Daleks. Their mission: infiltrate the Dalek asylum. Complication: a young woman, stranded and waiting rescue, who idles her time making souffles....and crazed Daleks stand between her and the Doctor. But there's more than meets the eye....

...and finally, we will finish with "Genesis of the Daleks", one of the classics of the original series and considered by many fans to be the unofficial "start" of the Time War. The Fourth Doctor, Sarah, and Harry find themselves on a world beset by two wages locked in a seemingly eternal war. However, the Fourth Doctor has been recruited by the Time Lords and transported to Skaro for a critical mission. Their sole objective: prevent the Daleks from ever coming into existence....

Three stories featuring the Daleks, focusing on elements of the Time War (a huge piece of current Who mythology), and a great way to keep cool on a hot July day. But more importantly, here's a great opportunity to keep spirits high until the anniversary.

Any food or restaurants near by?

Next Door Café has food available, besides simply selling coffee and tea. Also Next Door is on Diversey, next to the intersection of Clark and Diversey, both of which are main streets with plenty of food places about.

Just a heads-up; I'm giving everyone the 'all clear" to attend - thankfully, we'll have some people coming just for a few episodes. You're not obliged to stay all the way through (and if you want to come around 3:00 for just GENESIS, you're OK as well)

Andzej - be patient; we usually have a few people cancel, so you should be able to make the main list. If not, drop me a line - I can always schedule a "part two"

Dallas - give it time; I'll be sending everyone on the waiting list a brief note. :)
