(Please note - we've had to reschedule. See above for new day/time)

One of the challenges of running the Meetup is coming up with some unique pairings of both classic and new Who in which to both attract new fans and appeal to fans of the classic series....yet do so in a way which reflects the show's history and provides some great entertainment.

For a special Saturday viewing, as part of our celebration of the show's 50th anniversary, we're showing two episodes focusing on the legacy of a key character - Colonel Alastair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart.

We'll start with a viewing which contains a nod to the character, and which features Matt Smith as the Doctor. The Power of Three focuses on the Doctor's "exile" with Amy and Rory, but also features a character with ties to the classic "UNIT era" of the show. Yes, we're doing this to bring in new series fans....but it's also an understated gem, and possibly the "hidden treasure" of the current series. (At least, in this organizer's opinion).

But speaking of the UNIT era, our second story will be 1971's Terror of the Autons, which served to "kick off" the classic UNIT era, but also brings in some other elements as well. We'll see the Master for the first time. We'll see the show attempt to bring in some scares (at least, scares for 1970s-era Who). And on top of that, it's a pretty good story.

(We're also planning to highlight the Master in May, so you'll want to keep your calendars open).

Yes, we are charging a small fee, but those fees will be applied towards Meetup hosting and other costs.

Thanks, and hope to see you there!

Hi! I'm new to the group, and I love DW and am an avid Whovian. I was just wondering, is there anything I need to bring or whatever to come?

Zander - sorry for the delay in responding; just bring your enthusiasm, and if you so wish, snacks. (Although we encourage you to buy some of Next Door's food if you can)

Regretfully, I have to cancel due to a conflict in the early evening that would require that I leave by 3:30 pm. May as well open up the seat. Too bad, I love the food and excellent coffee at Next Door!
