When It All Got Timey-Wimey: THE TIME MEDDLER

It was the final story of Verity Lambert’s tenure as producer. It was the first story with Steven Taylor as companion. But The Time Meddler, featuring William Hartnell as the First Doctor, is a story that has had multiple influences on the series up to and including the present day.

It was the first story that mixed historical elements with science fiction elements. It also was the first story to have a character (aka “The Monk”) who was suggested to be of the same race as the Doctor. It was also one of the few 1960s-era stories to examine the ramifications of time travel (although it was with a more comedic influence). In short, this is one of the pioneering stories of Who, which laid much groundwork for stories to come, including such recent entries like Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon and A Town Called Mercy.

So please join us at Third Coast for our monthly classic series screening, and remember - any fees collected go towards supporting hosting fees for the Chicago Doctor Who meetup.

It is with deep regret tha I have to cancel at the last minute. I am working on a big project that requires me to stay tonight to work.

Work issues mean I will be unable to attend this evening as planned. Sad.
