You folks are going to love this amazing new venue for Doctor Who meetups! We are beginning what we hope will be a very fruitful partnership with Atomic Empire in Durham. They've got games, they've got comics, and they've got sci-fi paraphernalia, including an awesome selection of Doctor Who gear! Plus they've got meeting space, so this is going to be really cool!

While we are there, we will continue our quest to watch a story from a different Doctor every month until we reach November and Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary. To differentiate ourselves from BBC America, we'll try to pick a story that is historically significant to the show. Last month, we watched The Time Meddler as our First Doctor story, in which we first see the Doctor encounter another being of his own race.

This month, since the number of surviving Second Doctor stories are limited, we're going to combine our viewing with one of our popular script readings. We'll watch episode one of The Web of Fear, and then we'll mix script reading with visual reconstructions to finish the story. This story introduces Brigadier Allistair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart, who (for you New Series fans) appeared with every Classic Series Doctor at some point. Also, for those of you who enjoyed 2012's Christmas special, The Snowmen, you'll get to see what the Great Intelligence did with that map of the London Underground that the Doctor gave it.

The cafe at Atomic Empire will be selling pizza by the slice, so come hungry and prepared to drool over their merchandise between episodes. Note that there will be a Magic: The Gathering tournament going on there during the day, but it should be wrapping up by the time we start our activities. See you there!

Very friendly folks, I was half out of it from lack of sleep and was worried I wouldn't be able to socialize very well. Everyone was outgoing and pleasant though and made my first outing with the group enjoyable.

It was very nice to meet you too. Glad you had a good time. The other comic shop is Ultimate Comics in Chapel Hill/Durham on Farrington Road. Free comic day for 2013 will be May 4 - I believe.

    That was fun.

Amazing venue. I don't think I'd ever seen a store of that type so large. I couldn't resist buying a TARDIS, I have to get some AAA batteries for it this morning to see what it actually does.

The readings were fun. It was amusing to hear the mixed accents, I never knew that the 2nd Doctor had several mixed southern accents.

I couldn't help but think after one of the soldiers listed some of the tube stations, when the Doctor was asking for transistors and the like, "why don't you just go up to Tottenham Court Road, where all the electronics shops in London are." For future reference some of those stations have unusual pronunciations, it's tot-en-em court, with a slight accent on the first sylable, and Leicester Square is pronounced Lester Square.

When I went home, I had to watch "The Snowmen" again for more contact with the Great Intelligence, and to see the references to Web of Fear, like when the Doctor waved around the tube map, a bit before it's time.

Well, I had a wonderful time! The venue wasn't as terrifying as I thought it might be to read aloud in. All fellow geeks in there, so good deal! I look forward to attending the next gathering I'm able to. Thanks for such a fun time, folks.

Will we start promptly at 5:00 or begin with some social activities? I'm going to be in Cary all day, so I need to know how early to leave that event. It officially ends at 5:30.

Awesome, always a treat to have you on board! Feel free to bring the item you mentioned in PM. Maybe there's a way to work it in.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
