A Doctor Who Pirate Musical Around A Campfire

It's that time again to tell some Doctor Who stories the old fashioned way - by spoken word (plus music and sound effects)! Join us for our fifth annual Big Finish Doctor Who audio meetup around the campfire!

This year's audio play is a unique one, featuring a really fun swashbuckling adventure, a little Penzance music, and a moving story. It stars Colin Baker who really shines in audio as the Sixth Doctor. His companion is a Big Finish creation, Evelyn Smythe, a professor of history. The story is Doctor Who and the Pirates, with a synopsis as follows:

All aboard, me hearties, for a rip-roaring tale of adventure on the high seas! There'll be rum for all and sea shanties galore as we travel back in time to join the valiant crew of the good ship Sea Eagle, braving perils, pirates and a peripatetic old sea-dog known only as the Doctor!

Gasp as our Gallifreyan buccaneer crosses swords with the fearsome Red Jasper, scourge of the seven seas and possessor of at least one wooden leg! Thrill as Evil Evelyn the Pirate Queen sets sail in search of buried treasure, with only a foppish ship's captain and an innocent young cabin boy by her side! Marvel at the melodious mayhem which ensues as we sail the ocean blue!

And wonder why Evelyn still hasn't realised that very few stories have happy endings...

I will supply the s'mores and drinks, but feel free to bring snacks to share. I've got some outdoor seating, but bring a folding chair if you have one, and dress warmly. See you there!

I will certainly try to make it. I really dislike musicals, but this story was inspired. My favorite bit is the cliffhanger of episode 2 (I think).
