Freeganism 101 and Trash Tour

At 9pm, we will end our business meeting, and have a brief introductory discussion about Freeganism. Newcomers are always welcome and encouraged to attend our full meeting, but if you just want an introduction to Freeganism, you can come just for the Freeganism 101 discussion. After, we will explore the area’s wasted food and other goods. We give advice on how to salvage these goods and comment on the reasons for such waste. The meeting and tour are NOT open to media.

It was nice meeting you all. Below is the link for the sustainable agriculture talk:

    June 9 sunday at 4pm.

How our food is produced, how those engaged in the production are able to derive livelihoods in sustainable rural communities, how we handle our soil, water and biodiversity, how we make choices about technologies and chemicals – these are questions with profound implications for our health, environment, economy and the future of humanity. India is a fertile ground where these questions are actively playing out – 700 million people derive livelihood from agriculture and related. There is a sense of urgency and poignancy as many regions in India are facing a deep agrarian crisis.

Dr. G.V. Ramanjaneyulu is one of the key individuals engaged in these issues in India. He is an Agriculture Scientist who is the Executive Director of Center for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA), a non-governmental resource organization in Hyderabad, and worked earlier with Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR). His blog www.agrariancrisis.in is very widely followed. CSA's work on scaling up sustainable agriculture models in Andhra Pradesh is well-respected across India. Many of you would have watched the Satyameva Jayate episode last year on pesticides. Ramanjaneyulu was not only a major participant but also helped behind the scenes in providing content for the program. http://www.satyamevja...

A new online media channel is being created by CSA and friends at http://www.krishi.tv/

      It is a FREE event.

I presume we will all BUY food first then do the trash tour there starting at 9pm? Whole Foods is very gracious to let us use spaces for meetings. I might still be able to make the 9pm part. The Whole Foods in Tribeca is near my job--so I'll surely join if you ever meet there. Thanks!

I wish I could go to the meeting tonight but the location announced too late. Hope to meet you all at the next one. Hopefully, The Whole Foods in TRIBECA. I'll BUY coffee for everyone at The Meeting. I LOVE that location and want to give them support also. Maybe this is ANTI-Freegan, but Whole Food is also very community aware.

One time the manager of a non-Whole Foods food mart complained that no one ordered. I ordered a $7 green juice so as to keep the peace. Yes, I think it would be a nice gesture to the store if you were for example to order something.

Thank you Garry! "My bad" for not having taken care of the location (and other stuff related to The Freegan Calendar of Events) as it was (and is) my responsibility. My apologies to one and all. Sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

Really wanted to attend this particular meet up but didn't get the location until after other plans were made earlier today.

Not a complaint but a suggestion that after an event such as the Documentary screening where interest is heightened having a smooth transition into the next meet up will be helpful in building the community. For example, being able to announce the next meet up date, time and location at the event. I really am not complaining and am very grateful for those putting the work in organizing the meet ups.

    In appreciation and solidarity.
