Freegan Meeting

Help make freeganism happen in NYC! At our organizational meetings we discuss and decide on future activities and group direction. Participants are encouraged to step up and introduce new freegan projects with the support of the group or take roles such as facilitating meetings or bottom-lining events.  We welcome both those with experience taking part in non-hierarchical consensus-based groups and those participating for the first time!

Newcomers are always welcome and encouraged to attend our full meeting, but if you ONLY want an introduction to freeganism and to dumpster dive, DON'T sign up for this meeting! See the next one (Freeganism 101 and Trash Tour).

Sorry to hear that...we will exchange numbers next time we meet to have contacts you can reach out when needed!

I will have to miss the next several meetups because I'll be out of town until the end of November, but I plan to come back, with bags and a flashlight, and some kind of rain-slicker I can take off later, so I'm not wearing my adventure on the way home...though I seem to have better luck getting a seat on the subway when I'm smelling somewhat ripe - ha! ha!

Have a wonderful Halloween, it feels like I'm trick-or-treating every time we get together!

Another thing is a sign up sheet with each others' cellphone# and/ or e-mail so we can stay in touch, even out on the site, I have occasionally had to straggle and rush to stay with the group (the bags get heavier and movement slower as we go along!) if I could just call and say "where are you now?" it would be helpful, and maybe later on, call or e-mail someone with "I need to share some more of my bagels before they go green" so I don't wind up wasting food anyway.

But those are minor compared to what this great group does, so THANK YOU!!

I've only been to a few of these but they are such FUN I wanted to make just a few suggestions: could someone chart the best routes we have done so far (upper E side from 57 - 62nd and 1st Ave, upper W side same streets approximately, along West End Ave.)?.. including our best store names and locations, I usually don't bring pad and paper and I forget where I am especially when it's dark, we are moving so quickly, and I'm busy foraging!
