Trash tour on a weekend

This is a morning tour of the nearby Park Slope area. The inhabitants are very generous, frequently leaving their cast-offs on the sidewalk. These are not in garbage bags but on stoops, hung on fences and/or in cardboard boxes with the words "FREE" on the flaps. I've seen entire dish sets, boxes of tapes, CDs, DVDs, furniture, toys, clothing, books, food, wine, etc., just set out for the taking.

I can't guarantee that there will be anything on that particular date but we can canvass the neighborhood and see what there is to be found. Bring hefty large bags, people, and let's go shopping!

Small group, all good company. Simple walk through Park Slope neighborhood, just need to keep an eye out for discarded items. We all ended up with unexpected but welcomed things. I now have a yoga mat, there desktop publishing guides w/ CDs (like new) and some other things. Good to allow things to live on.

I went thoroughly open-minded & must say that I enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to partake in more and it peaked my curiosity. Met some great people in the process, couldn't ask for more.

As I stated, you can never be certain what or how much you'll get on any trash tour, whether it's for food or other sundries. But we all made out rather well today. We found food, audio equipment, a rolling traveller's bag, books, clothing, sneakers, architect's equipment and many other items. The number was just right; too many more and there might not have been enough for everybody.

I am often up for a Sunday night dive on the upper west side and Morningside Heights. Email me or the [masked] mailing list any time you want to dive and need a partner.
