Freegan Feast

  • Mar 19, 2014 · 5:30 PM

Attendees are encouraged to participate in the Monday’s trash tour to help rescue food to use for our Freegan Feast.

A FREE and mostly vegan community meal we make together with love using rescued food. We’ll meet new people, reconnect with old friends, tell stories and jokes, and generally unplug from the current world order as we explore creative, alternative ways of being. Plan on lending a hand in some way even if other commitments prevent you from arriving on time. Media are welcome with appointment but they will be required to respect the wishes of those who do not want to be photographed.

It will be held at a volunteer’s home in Manhattan accessible by NYC Transit. RSVP (at least a day ahead) to get the location details!

It was nice meeting you all briefly at The Tour last night. I hope to attend a feast another time and even host sometime IF people don't mind coming up to The Bronx!

Missed the last one due to not receiving the message regarding the location till it was too late. I'd like to make this one IF it's in a location to without too much trouble. As was the plan for the last time (which never actually came to fruition) I will be able to prepare food and clean up afterward. I haven't been on a trash tour so I don't have any rescued food. Let me know if this is ok or not.

Sure! If you reply "yes" you will receive the address in an email. It's upper east side/Harlem, on 119th Street. We start around 5:30. It'd be great if you join us for the tour the night before the feast (tomorrow: Tuesday) which starts on East 86, leaving from Panera. You can come to the Freeganism 101 starting at 9 pm. We'll be in the eating area

Uggh. Unfortunately, I will have to change my RSVP to "no." According to Hopstop.com, as well as my real experience, the commute from East Harlem to my home is one-hour-and-fifty-six-minutes. That's just too much subway time, especially on a work night. As for the tours, I can never do them, they are just too late for me. I understand that you have to wait for the stores to close, but I usually go to sleep at 9:00 p.m. most evenings. Thank you for your response and hopefully, there will be an event similar to the last one, a more suitable location and hour for my schedule. Thanks again.

Have a job workshop 6-7:30. Can get there late depending on location and help clean.
