If you love jazz and blues, we invite you to join the Dunwoody Jazz Society. Together we will explore ways to enjoy music in intimate settings and get to know our fellow jazz and blues fans with social events such as house concerts, parties, a monthly newsletter, and lectures. Membership is free, and members' email addresses will be entered into a drawing to receive a free CD from a local jazz artist, so please join at http://www.dunwoodyjazzsociety.com
We are now on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/dunwoodyjazzsociety![]()

I have several goals for this meetup. At present, I'm trying to find events that are low or no-cost to attract more people to the meetups. Also, I'm looking for venues where the music isn't so loud that it discourages conversation and mingling among people who attend. And last, but not least, I'm trying to promote bebop, swing, Latin, big band era and blues. There are plenty of opportunities to hear contemporary or "pop" jazz in the Atlanta area, but as an organizer, I formed the Dunwoody Jazz Society to expose people to the older forms.
If you know of an event which would qualify, please send more information about it and I'll consider sending it to the members or placing it on the meetup schedule.
If you do submit something, please be sure ALL details are included:
Date, time, place, address, admission charge, artist(s) and type of jazz they play, if known. If possible, include a link to the artist's website.
The Dunwoody Jazz Society produces a live Internet radio show called “JazzTones” on BlogTalkRadio.com. Our show brings Atlanta jazz musicians “on air” to talk about their music. We have also started a new series called "JazzTones Unlimited" to introduce musicians outside Atlanta to the Atlanta audience. If you missed any of our shows and would like to listen, you can hear them either in our show archives on our show page or by searching the iTunes store using "jazztones" to subscribe to and download our podcasts.
The number for our show is (347) 884-9076, and our show page, which includes archives of past programs and a text chat room, is at jazztonesradio.com
We invite you to call in to comment or ask a question, and you can use the same number to listen to the show by phone if you can’t get to a computer. You can also download a show or subscribe to the podcast feed using iTunes software.
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
