The Düsseldorf Expat November Meetup

Hello folks! A warm welcome to all members of Düsseldorf Expat Meetup, I hope you are all enjoying your time in Düsseldorf!

The final countdown to Christmas has begun smile If you look around many city centres for example in Düsseldorf, Köln or Aachen you will see preparations being made for the Weihnachtsmarkt, the Christmas street market that has been a German tradition for centuries. If you have recently arrived in Germany to start a new job or study then you have arrived at a good time! You are probably aware that many stalls sell a large variety of gifts from leather bags to children's toys, from paintings to wood carvings. And of course there is the food. I recommend you try the Dampfnudeln (a hot dessert) and Feuerzangenbowle, a variation of Glühwein quite similar to English Mulled Wine. Strong alcoholic content so be careful (see http://en.wikipedia.o...). Both are perfect for cold evenings wink

May I offer a warm welcome to all new members to Düsseldorf Expat Meetup! If you are new to our group I hope you will find time to join our events as often as you can and if you are new to Germany I hope you will find your time here exciting and worthwhile :) You have certainly come to a great place - Düsseldorf and the surrounding cities offer a great standard of living and plenty of choice. There is easy access to surrounding cities; by train Koln is approximately 30 mins from Düsseldorf, Bonn about an hour and Amsterdam is 2 hours away. These are things for you to discover.

Düsseldorf Expat Meetup offers is an easy way for you to meet people who, like you, are from abroad and working in Düsseldorf or surrounding towns and cities. We hope we can help you meet new people and find your own network of friends who you can meet and socialize with. We meet once a month, these events are easy to join, there are no rules and it is free. Just get yourself a drink and introduce yourself to anyone in the group and explain that you are new to Düsseldorf. We all remember our first few weeks in a new country and city so we look forward to helping you feel settled here!

To all regular members we look forward to seeing you again! We hope you can join us, catch up with friends from previous meetups and meet new people who have just arrived.

The November Expat Meetup will be Thursday 19th November, 8pm at O'Reillys Irish Bar on Marktplatz. You will find us inside, top floor by the bar. If you have difficulty finding the meetup group, the staff at O'Reillys are very helpful and they will help you find us.

If you are new to our meetup group you may be interested to know we have a group page on Facebook also. Feel free to join the Dusseldorf Expat Group on Facebook though you will need to have a Facebook account to begin with. With an account you can find the group by entering 'Düsseldorf Expat Meetups' in the search bar at the top right corner of the website. Whether you are new to Germany, new to Düsseldorf or wish to meet international people from diverse backgrounds living and working in your area then please feel free to join us!

May I wish you all a great week, look forward to seeing you next Thursday!
All the best, Düsseldorf Expat Meetup
