First may I offer a warm welcome to all those who have joined our group in the past few weeks and if you are new to D?sseldorf and perhaps to Germany also may I wish you all the best during your time here!
I would like to thank everyone who came to the last meetup Thursday, 17th September at O'Reillys! It was a great turnout, I hope the event helped you feel welcome and more settled in D?sseldorf Hopefully you met people who, just like you, have recently arrived or have been living here for some time and this reassured you about your new life here.
For those who came for the first time it may have been a bit daunting to see many new faces all at once but I'm optimistic that after you have been to a few more events you would have found a circle of people whose company you enjoy - many members have made friends and contacts this way :) If you need any assistance at these events please feel free to talk to me, I will do my best to help.
This year we have been having an extra meetup on the first Sunday of every month and the next one was due to be this Sunday 4th October but it will be postponed. This Saturday is Reunification Day in Germany, a public holiday when shops and stores will be shut. However shops will be open this Sunday from 10am to 6pm so I'm assuming on this day, rightly or wrongly, most of us will want to use the time for urgent shopping for food and other essential items ... The first Sunday meetup will return as normal 1st November
Don't forget other events that are happening this week and all through October: RhineBuzz offer guided tours for the Catwalks exhibition every Friday at NRW-Forum Kultur und Wirtschaft all through October. Also they have notified us of another event, a film showing for three days from October 9th that marks the directorial debut of Isabella Rossellini. We will of course post information about that as soon as possible.
Before I leave I would like to mention that the next meetup will beThursday October 15th, 8pm at O'Reillys Irish Bar. The details will be updated on Facebook and on the Meetup website www.meetup.com/dusseldorf shortly. Once again thank you very much for coming to Expat Meetup and I look forward to seeing you at the next event in two weeks time! I wish you all a great weekend and October!
Since 2006 we have been helping members new to Germany and those wishing to connect to an international community meet people from diverse backgrounds and from nations across the world. We usually meet once a month, the third Thursday of every month, but we organize more events whenever an opportunity presents itself.
Everyone is welcome! Just arrive, buy a drink and introduce yourself to fellow members. If you wish to find out more click on the About tab or browse through our photos of past events. These pictures should give you an idea of what we are about :)
If you are new to Germany, just found our group or you are a regular member we look forward to meeting you at the next event! We hope you will join us often in the future, we wish you every success during your time here!
