Weather:(Right Click, open new Tab or Window)
NOTE-1: You need to stay together, as a team or not go with us! Turning around only splits the group, usually not a good idea. Trips last sometimes 13+ hours! We don't hurry, have lunch, take care of each other and play it calm and safe.
NOTE-2: Val doesn't have a set turn-around time. If we are close to the summit, and everybody is up for it, we go on, even if we have to come down in the dark with headlamps. And... should it really happen, we are equipped (right? Warm stuff, bivi-bag...!) for a bivi as well. IF this bothers you, DO NOT GO on an such a trip.
NOTE-3: BAG-CHECK: Got to have Alpine Scrambling Equipment: 2x 18ft 5mm prusik cords, 1 locking carabiner, Ice-Axe, SnowShoes, Tracktion Device, Ski-Poles with Snow Plates, Headlamp, Extra Warm Cloth - packed water tight, Full Zipper Rain Pants, Rain Jacket, Gloves, Extra Water-Tight Mittens, Water-Tight Winter Mountaineiring Boots, Gaitors, Dry Socks, Ziplockbags, Avalanche cords or beacons etc.. After a rainstorm, you need to be able to put an dry cloth. Most often, Crampons! The equipment has to fit and you need to know how to use it!
10 Essentials:http://www.firstemall.com/epeaks/ Plus a Bivi-Bag for shelter.
Note 4: We will carry a rope just in case, but do not regularily use it. However, if you feel unsafe, ASK FOR BEING ROPED UP! Regardless, if Val ropes up, you will also have to rope up. If you don't like this, don't go!
NOTE-5: Don't just text, CALL people if your RSVP changes on short notice, of if you are late.
NOTE-6: Liability: Hiking is a potentially dangerous activity and can potentially result in injury or death. Please remember, our organizers are not guides. We are not professional trainers or experts. You are responsible for your own safety and your preparation for the events. You need to be properly equipped for all weather conditions, un-anticipated delays by other participants or for whatever reason, and have the skill level necessary to participate.
