Lunch at High Hut

Located near Mount Rainier, High Hut is one of the cabins owned and operated by Mount Tahoma Trails Association.  It's 8 miles and 2,500 feet round trip snowshoe, but the beauty is that you can sit by a warm fire for lunch, and on clear days enjoy a fantastic view.  If you have not been there before, this is an opportunity to check it out, as you can stay overnight if you have a reservation.

Depending on who signs up and from where, we'll figure out a convenient park and ride, although I can pick anyone up from the Star Lake P&R.

Thanks Lance for a fun trip! We had brand new untouched beautiful snow to play in and a warm hut to kick back and eat our lunch. Good workout breaking trail and we got out of the rain for the day!

Just came from there this evening. We were able to park in the upper parking lot. You will see T~ there :) She had it the whole weekend.

Sno-Park Pass required for the parking area at High Hut trailhead. We have a pass and room in our car for two more if needed. Will be nice to get into the warm hut for lunch! The hut even has a propane cook stove so bring a lunch to heat up (or make hot coffee/cocoa). This is a great snowshoe for everyone as it is not technical and no avalanche dangers. Great choice Lance for this weather :)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
