Come spend a festive evening at Pacific Place during the Holiday Season and let's pretend we are in Rome for the night!
We will begin our festivities at Il Fornaio for Happy Hour, where we can feast on antipasti (bruschettas, calamari, frittura di verdure, carpaccio, polenta e funghi) and several types of pizzas for $5 per selection. I will arrive at 5pm, but come whenever you can!
At 6pm, we will catch the holiday spirit amid a festive flurry of snowflakes in the atrium as we head to our opera seats at the Movie Theatre.
The Metropolitan Opera HD Broadcast of Mozart's opera La Clemenza di Tito will starts promptly at 6:30 and will transport us to Ancient Rome, with its intrigues, plots, passions, friendships, and betrayals. And better yet all will end well! Tickets prices are around $20. I will update this when FathomEvents put the tickets for sale.
I attended this Broadcast this week-end, and it is a pure delight. If you have never been to an opera, this is a wonderful opportunity to do so. If you have seen many, you will most certainly be thrilled by this spectacular production. Here are a few reviews:
Elina Garanca, “sleek and beautiful, with a lustrous voice” (New York Post) is “a splendid interpreter” of Sesto; “she produces luminous sounds that seem to linger suspended in the air like shining pearls.” (AP)
As Tito, Giuseppe Filianoti “soared to virile, commanding form,” and Barbara Frittoli “burned up the stage as the scheming Vitellia” (New York Post).
This “elegant” production (AP) is “more than the sum of its excellent parts” (New York Post).
And here is a link to the Metopera HD Broadcast season:
(Details for this Opera are at the end of the list, as this will be an Encore - the recorded production - not the direct broadcast.)
I hope you can join me! A bientot.
