Peak with a view (*** difficulty) Mount Ararat

The meetup will appear full for manual control -  add yourself to waiting list, and I'll pull you in depending on fit for mountain/team.

1. This is not a technical climb, but a physically demanding hike and scramble

Our t ypical hikes are around 8-10 miles round trip,[masked] feet elevation gain, and mixed terrain scramble to a peak.

2. What to Bring

Crampons - required
Microspikes - required
Snowshoes - required
Ice Axe - required
Gaiters - required
Headlamps - required
Gloves (incl.spare) - required
Chest Harness - recommended - we can build it using a rope, but buy it for ease of use/safety. It is not expensive.
Winter mountaineering boots - required. This is a alpine scramble, and hence be ready for mixed terrain including snow travel.
Hydration and food - required
10 Essentials - required

It is winter time - make sure you are prepared to be outdoors for a long time, or, sometimes even overnight in an emergency.

I am surprised this place is not popular. Spectacular views. Met Woody and Tanna on the trial - they get special stars for hard trailbreaking.

Guys, my brake wear indicator light came on for my car. My mechanic had warned me the brakes needed new pads soon. I need to get my breaks done on Saturday. Sorry to bail on you.

Anyone heading out from DT Seattle? I live in Belltown and would like to catch a ride out.

If anyone is willing to drive and has a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle, then let me know. We could then go to a more rare destination (NOT OFFRoad)

I have an awd audi. not great clearance, but excellent traction.

If weather is as good on Sat as the forecast claims, we should go to Guye Peak.

If you do Guye Peak, I might join in. :)

If you go to Guye Peak, you can dig for my ice axe, at the base of the frozen waterfall, perhaps buried under 20 feet of snow ;-)
