Fisher House - VA Hospital

  • November 9, 2012 · 6:30 PM

We will be prepping food that will be served for brunch on Saturday morning.

Fisher House is "a home away from home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. In 2011, Fisher Houses in the US served more than 17,000 families, who stayed on average for 10 days while the patient was the hospital for 45-60 days. This program also saved families more than $25 million in lodging costs, plus food and transportation

To get pre-cleared, you need a background check and finger printing. Contact Meeghan at the VA at[masked] ext 3202. You MUST be badged to come to this event. Unfortunately we have no control over how quickly that happens :( but they tell us it can be as much as 4 weeks. Just let Meeghan know you're trying to make it to this event and see what she can do.
Friday night we will prepare food (cut up fruit etc...). Saturday morning we serve food to the families that are staying there.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
