Greenland Comprehensive Skills Workshop
October 13-14, 2012
In this Cheri Perry and Turner Wilson workshop learn the traditional kayaking skills and tools of the Inuit seal catchers that offer valuable lessons for the modern day kayaker. Learn Greenland strokes: forward canted, bow and stern sweeps, bow and stern rudders, draws, and bracing. Explore Greenland rolling variations: both layback and forward recoveries with the paddle will be demonstrated and taught as well as norsaq, hand rolls, and more.
With a maximum student to teacher ratio of 4:1, there is much opportunity for reaching your individual goals. Each day will consist of a half day of strokes/maneuvers, and a half day of rolling/rescues. Maximum number of students is 8: we need minimum of 6 students to make this work. The workshop is two days. The fee of $350.00 is due at time of registration.
A variety of Greenland style kayaks, paddles and other equipment will be available for use.
