Barefoot Hike at Rocky Narrows in Sherborn MA

Rocky Narrows is a great little Trustees of the Reservation park along the Charles River. The trail that circles the park offers a nice variety of terrain. Most of the trail is barefoot friendly, although there are a few gravel sections. The highlight of the park is a beautiful overlook above the Charles River.

The hike will take two to three hours, including a few stops to enjoy the view.

Parking is limited. We may need to park nearby along Route 27, and carpool or walk a bit to the park.

Had a great time guys!! This was a really good place - Thank You to Don for suggesting it and for leading us through. It's not illegal to text and hike as long as you do it barefoot...

We are we meeting? At the Charles River/Route 27 (Medfield side) lot? Or on the Forest St (Sherborn) side?

On the Rt. 27 side. It's much closer to alternative parking a few minutes south at the intersection of Rt. 27 and the Charles River.

Oops, I wasn't paying attention on the date! Tomorrow? Hmm... Well, if anyone's driving from Boston in the afternoon let me know if I could catch a ride, though it doesn't look like it.

I'm going to be doing a hike in that general neighborhood in the morning. I'm not sure what time we'll be done, but if it's in time to make this, I'd like to come. So, uh, maybe?

Another option for parking is along Rt. 27, a few minutes drive south from the trailhead, by the Charles River. If trailhead parking is not available, we can hike from the Rt. 27 Charles River parking. There are two issues that some people may not like: a five minute walk along high-speed Rt. 27, and crossing the Charles River on a railroad bridge. Rt. 27 has a wide paved shoulder, and I've seen only one slow train in the many years I've enjoyed Rocky Narrows.

I went and checked out the location. Parking will be a problem. Not sure but maybe we can park at the ball field in the center of town and take only one or two cars back? Trails are really nice, some gravel, some dirt - a beautiful place.

I'm busy this weekend. How about the next weekend, Sun 9/7/2014? I'd like it early afternoon to minimize annoying bugs. Other people like that date? Do I ADD DATE to this Meetup suggestion and others can sign up?
