Come join us for a barefoot hike up Wachusett Mountain. This is an easy climb up a small but scenic mountain. Most of the hike will cross rock, roots, and dirt. We will follow the Old Indian Trail up to the top where we'll have a scenic 360 degree view. The hike will take about two to three hours, depending on the group. This is good practice for our upcoming, planned Blue Hills hike.
Park in the lot at the ski lodge. Meet at the edge of the parking lot, in front of the ticket sales windows at the main ski lodge buildings. Look for barefoot people. All hikers should bring water (if the weather's hot bring extra) and tick repellant. Bring a snack or lunch (picnic tables at the top). Some people may find a walking stick or trekking poles to be helpful. New hikers and those unsure of their ability should bring backup shoes. It can be pretty windy at the top so you might want to bring a light jacket if the weather is cool. If it rains we may have to postpone the hike (the rocks can get pretty slippery up there).
